Bedside Vigil in the PICU
Audiobook Chapter Three of Changing Destiny's Destiny.
Bonnie has been lulled into a false sense of security by Destiny's quickly treated overdoses, so when she discovers that Destiny has injected the entire contents of her Aunt Kat and Uncle Charlie's medicine cabinet into her J tube she takes her time getting her daughter ready to go to the hospital. It is only when they are halfway to the ER, when Destiny goes unresponsive, that Bonnie discovers that this overdose has the potential to be deadly if she doesn't jam her foot on the accelerating and goes barreling down the highway and then when she gets off at Exit 11 she goes burning through all the red lights and stop lights. Only to pull into the hospital and realize that Destiny is not breathing. She flags down a security guard who runs out with a crowd of doctors, nurses, and CNAs and a stretcher. After cutting her out of her carseat they rush her into to trauma room one and Bonnie stands helplessly in the corner of the room watching her daughter's small body get violated by medical equipment for hours. When Destiny is finally stabilized she is brought up to the pediatric intensive care unit where Bonnie and Allen sit bedside vigil next to Destiny who is on life support.
