The Incarcerated Goldfish
A sneak peek of Chapter One of MINDFUL TRAUMA before it hits the bookshelves, by the best-selling YA author of the book Was I Ever Normal and When One Door Closes
Destiny goes into her psychologist, Joanne's office prepared to finally tell the truth about what she has been experiencing for the last seven years. When Joanne comes out of her office she slings her bag of J tube feeds over her back and follows her in. While staring at a picture of a goldfish stuck in a glass mug that's so small he can't swim around, Destiny explains to Joanne how when she was five years old she discovered she was connected to a second world full of fog where monsters walk by drinking cups of blood, a man with a short fuse named The Bad Man is constantly yelling at her, a bodiless man called The Storyteller narrates her life like the narrator in the cartoon George of the Jungle movies from the 90's, music plays in her head like it's coming from earbuds, and a bunch of men, women, and children, who alll speak in unison all sing along, laugh at her, whisper, yell, and talk at once. Destiny describes how the people from The Bad Man's World force her to harm herself and twist her thoughts to make harming herself sound like a good idea and how if she resists they suck her into the Black Hole of Nothingness where they take over her body and everything goes dark for her as they force her to overdose or pull out her hair.
To find out how Joanne reacts you will have to read the chapter,
