How I Turned Into a Psych Patient
A downloadable e-book. Chapter Five from my book “Chronically Alive: A Story of Sick".
I wasn't quite sure how I turned into a psych patient, but at some point after all the medical testing started coming back negative, the doctors started feeding into my parent's story about my non-existent eating disorder more and more. After weeks on the medical floor the doctor came into my room with a length of tubing, a tube of lubricant, and a Pediasure. When he gave me the option of a tube that would go up my nose through my sinuses, down my throat, down my esophagus into my stomach to feed me high calorie tube feed, or drinking some of a Pediasure that he handed me, he was shocked when i sadly handed him back the Pediasure and told him I still couldn't drink it.
The next thing I knew I had a feeding tube up my nose and was locked in a children's psychiatric unit that liked to give shots in the butt when you cried too hard. Dr. Hizami, my psychiatrist there started feeding me these pills for anxiety that when given to children could occasionally create a paradoxical reaction, well they turned me into a self-destructive hurricane.
To find out if my parents were able to stand up for me you will have to buy this chapter
