Full Healing at the Partial Hospital
Chapter Eight of "Chronically Alive: A Story of Sick. When I saw the keypad lock on the door of the partial hospitalization program, I felt like I wanted to turn and run in the opposite direction. A counselor named Deanna answered the door and had my dad sign some papers, then my dad gave me my backpack and a kiss and told me he'd see me at 3 PM. Deanna took me to a room with a bunch of cubbies where she had me hang up my jacket and get wanded, then take out my socks and shoes, shake them out, and put them back on. Then she asked to see my teddy bear, Haley. I was too scared to let go of her, she asked again. I hugged Haley tighter. She told me I couldn't go past this room until she wanded Haley. Clinging to Haley for dear life I began shaking.
Finally Deanna realized the problem was that I was too scared to let go of Haley. Haley was my security object and baby.
She decided to wand Haley while she was in my arms.
After that fiasco was over she led me down the hall to the kitchen where all the kids were eating breakfast before Community Meeting. Relieved that Deanna had been able to understand me I wondered if maybe I really could get full healing at the Partial Hospitalization Program.
