Overdose of Aspirin
May 25, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Save the date! I am going to offer you a special treat. On May 25th, 2023 I will be hosting a YouTube Livestream Event where you can hear “Take 50 Aspirin and Die In The Morning: Chapter 29” of Was I Ever Normal, my most recently published novel. Was I Ever Normal has 8 Five-star reviews on Amazon as well as multiple reviews on other sites as well. It is sold in-store and online, all over the US and internationally. People love it because it gives them a taste of what it really feels like to live with childhood-onset schizoaffective disorder and the accompanying depression so bad that an overdose of Aspirin seems to be the only escape route.
The reading will be followed by an optional Q&A with the author (me). To sign on for this amazing opportunity, just click the link.
In Chapter 29 of “Was I Ever Normal”, we see how desperate Cassie is for the right kind of help. But no one will give it to her. This drives home the idea that her only option is to take an overdose of Aspirin and it all. It doesn’t matter how many different ways she asks, begs, screams, or acts out to point out the issues, all of the adults in her life continue to believe that she is just looking for attention.
What would you do if you were a 13-year-old girl and you knew that you had childhood-onset schizoaffective disorder, but couldn’t find a single adult in your life that would acknowledge that you’re not “faking” it?
If you were Cassie, you would finally take an overdose of Aspirin at school. Then you wake up in the ER with a team of medical personnel in blue gowns, swarming you. They’re pressing an oxygen mask on your face, stabbing you with multiple IV lines, and sticking heart monitor leads all over your chest and belly.
How would your mom react when she arrived to sign consent for you to be treated, for your overdose of Aspirin, just as the whole team of medical personnel are running your stretcher down to the elevators that led to the Pediatric ICU? You would probably start shaking when the doctors told your mom that Aspirin is one of the most lethal drugs to overdose on, Then you would wonder to yourself, what is wrong with me? Was I ever normal?
To find out how Cassie’s body handled the overdose of Aspirin and her mom’s reactions, you will have to sign up for the YouTube Livestream Event.
