Join Me For an Exciting Event Called “Psych Crisis”
An exciting event where the author herself reads aloud Chapter 33 “Psych Crisis” from her best-selling novel in verse, “Was I Ever Normal”.
Going into Psych Crisis
Cassie is on a downward spiral. She knows it too. The problem is, that she doesn’t know how to ask for help. Most of her day is spent sitting outside the school’s psychologists’ offices praying one of them will come out and talk to her and give her the magic answer. However, none of them ever have time for her. Instead she sits in the hallway as a black hole of hallucinations threatens to drag her into the wrong reality.
A Different Type Of Kid in Crisis
Once a straight-A student, now she is letting herself miss dozens of classes a week as she waits for some big revelation from a high school psychologist who is used to dealing with kids that are just too stressed out about getting into the right college. The sexually abused kids that she has to report to DCF. The dramatic teenage girls who just broke up with their boyfriend/girlfriend and now think that their world is over. The regular anorexics or bulimics on the gymnastics team.
Rescue Me Perra!
What they are not used to dealing with is kids with childhood-onset schizoaffective disorder that half want to tell the truth about their symptoms to get the help they need, and half want to somehow figure out a way to get treatment without revealing the fact that they are trying to inflict pain on themselves so that a beautiful woman with one blue eye and one green eye will come rescue her without thinking that she is insane.
A Psych Crisis Evaluation
Her DBT therapist is useless and will only talk about applying DBT skills to difficult situations. But how do you apply DBT skills to voices no one else can hear? After another unproductive therapy session, Cassie allows her dad to guide her down to psych crisis on the first floor of the mental health building. Can she summon up the strength to be totally honest with the crisis worker or will she continue pretending to be just another angsty teen who cuts because they like the attention?
Staying Away From The Edge of Insanity
Even Cassie herself doesn’t reallly know what she’s capable of. She has a tendency to chicken out at the last minute when the voices start to barrage her and put pressure on her to keep her a secret. But if she doesn’t reveal her deepest darkest secrets, there’s quite a good chance that somthing will push her over the edge and that she will go carreening out of reality permanently. She is definitely in the midst of a psych crisis. It’s time for her to make a choice, and it’s a very difficult one, but the ball is in her court now…
How to Sign Up For My Event
To find out what happens you will have to sign up for this event. I would really appreciate it if you signed up as “going” instead of “interested”. It has been my experience that people who sign up as “interested” don’t end up actually showing up for the event. My event will be a livestreamed reading on YouTube. You will be able to interact with me during the event via text messages the entire time. At the end of the event there will be a period for a Q&A with the author (me). I hope you will join me, you will really have a great time.
